All Quarters is intended as an examination and critique of the box-ticking mentality of photo-tourism. Through a series of soundscapes and video landscapes we visit a number of Scottish beauty spots and tourist destinations with a cynical eye. Although sceptical of the overwhelming impulse to document these scenic locations these living postcards still conform to many of those conventions. Here though, landscapes are rendered sinister, mundane or manic through the manipulation and collage of audio and video. There is a slippage between the sound and the image, a layering of time or a repetition of moments through which the resonance of these over-photographed beauty spots seep through.
All Quarters was a collaborative project between Gregor Dewar and Mark Vernon and was funded by Alt-W.
