Soundscapes
Phonography and field recording is a hugely important part of my practice. Over the years I have built up a vast archive of recorded sound which has become a useful resource to draw upon in many other projects. The audio works I categorise as soundscapes are those that are specifically to do with the recording and manipulation of everyday sounds. Sound is an incredibly malleable medium that allows for almost constant modification and transformation. Though many of these pieces employ techniques more commonly found in musique concrète and electro-acoustic music, I prefer to take a non-academic approach to soundscape composition that plays with the visceral and associative qualities of sound. For more details on these projects click on one of the links to the left or below.
